DFT – Drilling Fluids Technologies

ActiGuard™

Product Description

ACTIGUARD is a non-toxic, hydrophobic additive that serves as a nonpolluting drilling fluid lubricant, ROP Enhancer, and shale control additive. It chemically bonds to clays, eliminates water invasion, and prevents shale swelling tendency. When mixed with fresh water, salt water, or drilling mud, it transforms into a uniform particle-size micro-emulsion.

This microemulsion produces a high surface area, reactive liquid that has an affinity for larger clay particles. It bonds to the clay matrix of shales to control swelling and sloughing. This coating
behavior alters the wettability of hydrophobic substances, which comes on top of inhibition levels

Product Application

ACTIGUARD™ is primarily employed within the APHRONICS™ designed to enhance the shells of APHRON bubbles, ensure the external hydrophobic layer that will aid in shale stability, and facilitate hydrocarbon movement.

ACTIGUARD™ It has been successfully used with different water-based mud systems in wells with Highly Reactive clays and sensitive shales, as well as in reservoir drilling fluids to maximize production and protection.

Advantage

  • General Mud Conditioner, maintains stable fluid
  • High lubricity index
  • Enhances fluid rheology profile (LSRV performance)
  • Minimizes the need of Multi-Shale stabilizers
  • Facilitate hydrocarbons movement.
  • Suitable for use in any water-based mud (WBM)
